Very important to educate the medical community of special needs of Down Syndrome individuals. This is a wonderful beginning for this process. Physicians need to have a resource to help them treat the special needs population.

Hi everyone, this would be my first post and am kind of lost in the navigation of the site. So i figure out I'll be posting this here since I too is standing up for my daughter who is also diagnosed with DS. My Uncle handed me an article bearing this title : "Down Syndrome Can Be Cured" I wonder if some of you had already read it and can give me more inputs regarding this. But basically, this article talks about Nutrivene-D a vitamin/ supplement that contains high doses of folic acid and B-complex vitamins.I visited their website nutrivene.com and found overwhelming informations. This seemed to be so promising but I am not jumping my hopes yet so as to avoid false expectations. But would really appreciate more infos about this. Thank you so much. And I feel so blessed to be stumbling on upon this group.

Hi Janet,
Welcome to our board! I'm glad that you have posted your questions and concerns here.
There is no cure for Down syndrome. Nutrivene is a vitamin supplement that is specially formulated for kids with DS. Some people use Nutrivene and other don't. It's really just a personal decision. My advise to people usually is to do your own research and then decide whether or not to use it.
I'm curious as to where your Uncle got the article from, because as far as I know, Nutrivene does not promote the vitamin as a cure, and that would be simply false.
My son, Will, has been on Nutrivene since he was about 6 months old. He is very strong, so the Nutrivene may be contributing to that. He rarely gets colds (but he has had his share of ear infections!) Unfortunately, there is no way to tell if it's the Nutrivene, other than taking him off of the Nutrivene (which I've never done).

Hi Lisa,
Thanks for welcoming me and for the quick response on my query. I am actually not sure where my Uncle got the article but it did make me feel very hopeful. I had browsed the internet regarding this Nutrivene and had gathered some information about it. But getting feedback as yours made me more secure that this can be of great help to my daughter Anica. She will be six months this April 19. It’s of much relief too to know that someone from this group had used Nutrivene already and had not stopped doing so. I know I still got a long way to go and a long path to take but being a part of this group will sure make a lot of difference.
